The Braille Sense notetaker is a personal digital assistant (PDA) that uses a Braille keyboard for inputting information and refreshable Braille dots for reading. It also functions as a wireless Braille display, connects to the Internet, reads email, writes email, and composes word processing documents. Braille Sense provides enhanced functionality for Internet audio streaming, playing MP3s, DAISY books, and features a built-in digital recorder.
The Braille Sense is the first notetaker to offer true multi-tasking, with the ability to perform up to seven tasks simultaneously. With the Braille Sense, a user can listen to his or her favorite MP3s while writing email, surfing the web, and even using the word processor.

Multi-tasking

Audio streaming and MP3 player

Braille output

Detachable battery
The detachable battery can be replaced easily by the user, meaning no loss of productivity, and no worry about shipping the unit back to the manufacturer for battery replacement.
Powerful word processor
The word processor features increased speed and function. Importing and exporting documents, printing text, and embossing Braille documents are faster and more flexible.
• A User can create document files in hbl (that is unique Braille file format in Braille Sense), txt, and brl format.
• A Braille Sense word-processor can open doc and txt files without an additional translation process. When the user is finished editing, files are saved in brl, txt, or hbl format.
• The Braille SENSE word-processor can print any format of documents in Braille or text.
Digital audio recording
Braille Sense has a digital audio recorder and internal microphone for voice recording.
Connect to a personal computer
Connect the Braille Sense to a PC with Microsoft Windows. Use the Braille Sense as a refreshable Braille display or copy files to and from your computer via serial, USB, infrared interface, or bluetooth (note: bluetooth support requires an additional card, available from EnableMart at an additional cost).
USB compatibility
Use a USB memory stick for extended data storage, or connect an external USB QWERTY keyboard, CD-ROM, or other USB device.
Connect Braille Sense to a printer or Braille embosser and print out important documents, meeting and class notes, papers, and reports.
Access to email and the Internet
You can use Braille Sense to access the Internet through the built-in Ethernet port or optional Compact Flash wireless card.
Braille Sense's new real-time translation function provides text to Braille and Braille to text capabilities for:
• Sending and receiving an e-mail.
• E-mail management functions such as setting up folder paths for saving attachment files of received e-mail.
• Audible HTML files.
File management
The Braille Sense provides convenient functions to manage internal files in Braille Sense similar to the file manager in Microsoft Windows.
