The Readingpen Advanced Edition is a fully portable, self-contained assistive
reading device that is designed especially for people who have reading difficulties, learning
disabilities or dyslexia. This portable reading tool provides immediate word support and helps students read and understand independently.
The Readingpen Advanced contains over 600,000 words from the American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language 4th Edition and Roget's II & Thesaurus. Individual words are enlarged on the Readingpen display, and words may be spelled out, or broken into syllables.
This assistive reading device is a completely portable reading tool that does not require a computer. It also helps users with learning disabilities by providing a definition of the scanned word or line of text.
It reads both the words and definition aloud using its miniaturized text-to-speech
technology. Please note that Readingpen is for reading assistance only. It is best for users who occasionally need a word or sentence spoken aloud and defined. For users who need entire pages or books read aloud, please see our Reading Machines section.
Works
with any printed text -
The small size of the Readingpen hides a unique
technology that scans, defines, translates, and pronounces words from any printed material. This powerful, portable reading tool has an intuitive, friendly interface. It also features a test-taking shut off switch, which can be used to shut off access to the dictionary and thesaurus, while allowing students to still use the pen to discern words and phrases.

With the privacy and visual/auditory support provided by the Readingpen, frustration and embarrassment disappear.

as a result of having the additional
support of the Readingpen. It is a compact, portable and easy device to
use, which is why it has been readily adopted by so many of my students."
- Adrian S. Whitchelo-Scott, M.A., Ed., Educational Therapist

they use this incredible tool."
- Dr. Denise P. Gibbs Director, Scottish Rite Foundation

"The Quicktionary Reading Pen has been a valuable
tool in my 6th grade special needs classroom. I believe remedial work is possible
with all my students and I utilize an intensive, systematic phonics program
to help my students become more proficient readers, spellers and writers...My
students love to use it, and they more willingly read silently when they can
make use of the pen."
- Nancy Schrenk, Teacher
