Edmark Reading Program:
Level 1-Print -
Provides students with one-on-one teacher-to-student lessons.
Its clear structure and presentation method allows teachers to effectively employ paraprofessionals and peer tutors in their teaching.
Teaches 150 words chosen from the Dolch Word List and first grade readers, as well as regular plural, tense, gerund endings, capitalization, and punctuation.
Students will find success with a process that teaches a word, introduces its meaning, provides comprehension practice and uses the word in the story context.
Review and test activites are provided at 10-word intervals.
Short instructional steps, repetition, and constant positive reinforcement build a student's self-confidence.
The Story Book lessons include 16 stories with colorful full-page drawings that illustrate simple sentences. Only learned words are used in the stories.
Direction Card and Picture/Phrase Card lessons represent a broad diversity of people, role models and settings. Object-oriented words, such as "car," are represented by a variety of illustrative sizes, shapes and colors.
Teacher's Guide provides learning objectives, classroom activity ideas and research references.
Student Record Books help teachers track student progress throughout the program. They also help teachers develop IEP objectives.
