Know the Code DVD
Presents social skills in a lively, story-based format
Your students will love the Know the Code DVD ! It presents social skills in a lively, story-based format. Includes six segments: A Day at School, Charles Gets Teased, Dion Scores, Kristi’s First Day, Shana and the Secret and Tameka and the Bully. Two engaging hosts analyze social skills for classroom discussion.
Character education is promoted heavily in schools these days and this program seems to be a logical extension of that concept. The story follows five students through the day. Shana reveals a friend's secret, Kristi faces trying to fit it on her first day at a new school, Charles gets teased, Dion says he's done his homework when he hasn't and may miss a big game because of it. The scenarios show how to respond, suggesting that kids stay calm, consider a solution, think of other people. Given that kids today have so many problems with anger management and pressures to achieve and succeed, this is a helpful, clear and easy-to-use tool with which to show the right responses to difficult situations.
60 min., CC, with 24 pg. video guide, 2003.
