Edmark Functional Word Series, now brought to you by PRO-ED, helps you
successfully teach the vocabulary necessary for independent community living.
Often thought of as the third level of the Edmark Reading Program, this program
extends the same teaching techniques to encompass more functional, practical
words necessary for everyday living. Using the proven Edmark Reading Program
multi-sensory technique, students can learn to recognize 400 functional words
seen in the grocery store, on menus, on the job, and on common street and
building signs.
In each lesson, students learn a new sight word, practice sight recognition,
reinforce that recognition, and associate the word with its meaning through
illustrations. Each vocabulary word is presented in a variety of formats:
uppercase, uppercase and lowercase, and all lowercase. Each new word is then
presented with excellent illustrations to ensure word comprehension.
Short steps and multiple repetitions methods that have brought success to so
many students are used throughout the program. Reproducible worksheets
reinforce learning with activities such as writing, identifying, circling,
matching, and using a word in context.
