EnableMart and CompleteSpeech Partner to Distribute a Speech Therapy System that Works in Weeks, Not Years
Innovative speech therapy system uses visual representations and enhanced student engagement to dramatically improve and accelerate the therapy process
SALT LAKE CITY (July 12, 2011) – EnableMart and CompleteSpeech today announced the launch of a strategic partnership to distribute the CompleteSpeech Palatometer system. Under the terms of the agreement, CompleteSpeech and EnableMart will collaborate to introduce the Palatometer, which was launched today, to speech language pathologists throughout the United States. EnableMart will maintain exclusive distribution rights in the K-12 education market, while CompleteSpeech will concentrate its efforts on private practices, hospitals and universities.
“EnableMart’s core business is to provide products that help people compensate for disabilities,” said David Lindmeir, CEO of EnableMart. “The CompleteSpeech Palatometer technology has the ability to help children and adults permanently overcome a speech disorder, and we are eager to make it available to those who can really benefit from it. Today there are more than 2 million individuals in speech therapy and we are excited and honored to be a part of a solution to reduce that number.”
The Palatometer dramatically shortens the time it takes to complete successful speech therapy. In rigorous testing, the system has demonstrated complete remediation in three months or less for most individuals who had been engaged in professional speech therapy for seven years or longer.
Developed by Samuel G. Fletcher, Ph.D. and based on his more than five decades of specialized research, the Palatometer uses advanced technology to provide real-time video feedback of tongue-to-palate contact, which is critical for the majority of sounds created in the English language. The system consists of a custom-made mouthpiece covered with 124 sensors that monitor the tongue-to-palate contact during speech, a microprocessor device that links the mouthpiece to a personal computer and intuitive software that produces real-time visual feedback on the computer for all users to view.
“We have found that students respond extremely well to the visual stimulus of the Palatometer,” said Fletcher. “They almost invariably enjoy the engaging, intuitive interface and tactile exercises. This deep student engagement greatly enhances and accelerates the speech therapy process.”
“EnableMart’s long history of serving special education in schools is what makes the company such a great partner in bringing our system to the education marketplace,” added Jeremy Glauser, vice president of business development for CompleteSpeech. “The company’s excellent reputation with school districts across the country enables us to help improve the lives of millions of people who currently struggle with their speech.”
